About Clynelish 12 Year Old 2022 Special Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Clynelish Distillery was built on the coast of Sutherland County in the Highlands region of Scotland more than 2 centuries ago. Today, Clynelish is known for its sweet floral aromas and verdant flavor. Diageo's annual Special Releases Collection pushes the boundaries of aroma and flavor. Clynelish 2022 Special Release 12 Year Old is a single malt Scotch that was matured in refill American oak casks, then Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry-seasoned casks. Bottled at 117 proof, it's light, yet creamy and complex, while the palate is lively and rich with wine notes balanced by oak spice. A few drops of water bring out the herbal notes in this beautiful sipper.

About Clynelish

Founded in 1819, Clynelish Distillery is situated along the stormy coast of Sutherland County in the Highlands region of Scotland. The distillery was first established by the Marquis of Stafford who, after marrying into the Sutherland family, became the first Duke of Sutherland. For a number of years after the original distillery was constructed, the quality of Clynelish whisky was so prized that only friends of the Duke were able to purchase the whisky.

Today — nearly two centuries after its initial founding — Clynelish Distillery continues to use many of the same ingredients, including Highlands-malted barley and water sourced from Clynemilton Burn, in crafting its single malt whisky as it did under the stewardship of the Duke of Sutherland. Once the malted barley and water arrive at the distillery, the grains are milled and mashed before being fermented in Clynelish's wooden washbacks. While wooden washbacks are more expensive and difficult to maintain as compared to stainless steel washbacks, they absorb a portion of the heat generated during the fermentation process and thus, create a lighter and more rich whisky. After fermentation, the wash is distilled twice: f irst through Clynelish's copper-pot wash still and then again through its spirit still.

About Scotch

Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)

Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.

About Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Batch #11 Bourbon Whiskey

Crafted from hand-selected barrels, this bourbon is bottled uncut, straight from the barrel; unfiltered and unadulterated at over 125 proof. This technique is reminiscent of the way whiskey was produced in the days before Prohibition, when Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was the owner of Buffalo Trace Distillery. Drawn from barrels aged in rickhouses constructed by Taylor over a century ago, the spirit is incredibly smooth. This outstanding bourbon won a Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

About Compass Box Magic Cask Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Stewarded by John Glaser, Compass Box Whisky Company has been pushing the boundaries of blended whisky since its inception in 2000. "Like a winemaker blending grape varieties, we can create layers of complexity by blending whisky," says Glaser, who was named "Innovator of the Year" four times by Whisky Magazine and "Pioneer of the Year" twice by Malt Advocate. Compass Box Magic Cask started with an experimental maturation in 2016, when they re-racked a robust one-year-old malt spirit into first-fill oloroso sherry-seasoned butts sourced from Bodega José y Miguel Martín (J&MM). After 3 years, a particular cask (#2) stood out from the rest. By that time, they had been sitting on a parcel of first-fill bourbon casks of single malt from the now-defunct Imperial Distillery for quite some time. When the younger malt from the oloroso-seasoned casks was blended with this whisky, magic happened. The final blend consists of 92% single malt from The Imperial Distillery and 8% sherry-seasoned malt from a distillery near the town of Aberlour. Bottled at 92 proof, it's a fruity, oaky, and rich whisky that was bottled without chill-filtration or added color.

This is a sublime harmony of flavors, a taste of luxury and riches that is unmatched by anything you’ve ever tasted before. About Cognac

Cognac is a type of brandy produced in the Cognac region of France.
Because the French take it very seriously, there are numerous rules cognac makers have to follow not to fall “short” into the brandy category.

The white wine from the specific grapes (Ugni blanc) has to be doubly distilled in a copper pot still before being aged for at least two years in oak casks from which the wood can only come from two specific forests in France (Limousin or Tronçais).

Depending on the age, there are three types of cognac, the youngest V.S. (Very Special), V.S.O.P. (Very Superior Old Pale), and the X.O. (Extra Old)

About Cragganmore

Situated in the Speyside region of Scotland, the Cragganmore Distillery was founded by John Smith in 1870. Smith heralded from a dynastic whisky family — his family had previously been involved in the operation of the Macallan, Glenfarclas and Glenlivet distilleries, and he was related to George Smith, the founder of the Glenlivet Distillery. The name of the distillery (Cragganmore translates to "big rock"in ancient Galiec) is from derived the greenstone rocks sourced from a nearby hill that were used to build the distillery's infrastructure and maturation warehouses. Upon Smith's death in 1886, his son largely rebuilt the distillery and refurbished its equipment while preserving its traditional distillation techniques.

Today, the Cragganmore Distillery continues to honor the Smith legacy by crafting a unique single malt whisky made exclusively from lightly smoked barley. Once the barley arrives at the distillery, it is mashed in one of the distillery's six stainless steel mashtuns before being fermented in washbacks made of European larch. While larch washbacks are more difficult and expensive to maintain as compared to steel washbacks, they absorb a portion of the heat generated during fermentation and thus, contribute to a more robust flavor profile.

Following fermentation, the whisky is distilled twice through Cragganmore's copper-pot stills. The distillery's unique, flat-topped spirit stills (most distilleries have swan-shaped stills) and traditional worm-tubs (most distilleries use cooling conden sers) contribute additional complexity and flavor to the whisky.

About Daftmill

Situated in the Howe of Fife, a valley in Scotland, Daftmill is a family farm that mainly grows cereals and potatoes and rears cattle. It is named after a local stream, called "The Daft Burn", which plays a trick on the eye when viewed from a certain point, making it seem as if the river is running uphill. The farm has been operational for 6 generations but it wasn't until more recently that brothers Ian and Francis Cuthbert ― whisky lovers and perfectionists ― finally opened the doors of the distillery that was long in coming.

Their own malted barley was on hand, so was an artesian spring, and an old mill building was converted into a distillery in 2004 and 2005. All the labor and equipment ― apart from their stills from Forsyths in Rothes ― came from local craftsmen. It was on November 30, 2005 that they received their license at last. The first whisky was distilled 2 weeks later. Then came the waiting game, as they expected that their spirits would not reach the market before they have aged for at least a decade. Indeed, they began releasing the whisky in 2018 at 12 years of age.

Using their own farm-grown barley and artesian-well water they craft fine Lowlands whisky with minimal waste where all the magic happens within a 5-mile radius of the farm. Daftmill is a farm first and distillery second, as the latter only operates during midsummer and winter, during the farm's quiet periods ― a practice that used to be the norm in Scotland, but has become ext remely uncommon in the past century. This means that all their spirits come in super-limited quantities.

About Dalwhinnie 25 Year Old Limited Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

After the barley has been milled and mashed, it is fermented in the distillery's original, wooden washbacks. While wooden washbacks are more expensive and difficult to maintain as compared to stainless steel washbacks, they absorb a portion of the heat generated during fermentation, and thus, enable a slower and longer fermentation process. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled twice, first through Dalwhinnie's copper-pot wash still, and then again through its copper-pot spirit still.

Dalwhinnie 25 Year Old Limited Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in 1987 and matured for a minimum of 25 years in rejuvenated American oak casks. The whisky was bottled at cask strength in 2012. It has a golden amber color, along with an aroma of roasted nuts, cinnamon buns and syrup. The aroma gives way to notes of malted grains, summer fruits (particularly cherries and plums), cocoa and coffee on the palate, and ultimately leads to a finish accented by notes of creamy vanilla, ginger spice and honey.

Only 5,358 bottles of this unique single malt were ever made, and only a handful of bottles were allocated to the United States. Pick one up today!

About Dalwhinnie

Situated along the Grampian Mountains in the Highlands region of Scotland, Dalwhinnie Distillery was founded in 1897 by John Grant, and was originally named Strathspey Distillery. In 1898, Grant declared bankruptcy and sold the distillery to AP Blyth, who renamed the distillery Dalwhinnie. The name, which roughly translates to "meeting place"in ancient Gaelic, is a reference to the cattle farmers who would pause at the distillery on their journey south to the cattle markets in Crieff and Falkirk.

Dalwhinnie Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made exclusively from freshly harvested, plump barley, which is milled and mashed with water sourced from Lochan an Doire Uaine (meaning "Loch of the Green Thicket"). The pure spring water, which travels through local peat before reaching the loch (the loch itself is situated 2,000 feet above sea level), imparts a soft yet subtle complexity to the whisky. Since no other distillery may legally use water drawn from Lochan an Doire Uaine, no other distillery is able to replicate the unique, malty-sweet taste of Dalwhinnie Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

About Deanston 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Deanston Single Malt Whisky is made using Scottish-grown barley that is grown without the use of pesticides or chemicals. After the barley is mashed and fermented in an 11-ton open-topped mash tun — the only one of its kind in Scotland — it is twice distilled through Deanston's copper pot stills. The stills are equipped with a sloping lyne arm and boiler ball, which helps ensure a lighter and smoother whisky. Following distillation, Deanston 30 Year Old Single Malt is aged for three decades in the cellars of the former cotton mill. The cellars maintain a constant temperature and humidity, causing whisky expert Jim Murray to remark that "Deanston is a cathedral to whisky maturation. In fact, with its gloriously vaulted ceiling, you would swear you were in a crypt." Deanston 30 Year Old Single Malt is initially matured in a combination of used bourbon and sherry casks, giving it soft notes of honey, toffee and vanilla. After a 28-year beauty rest in the bourbon and sherry casks, the whisky in finished in ex-Olorosso sherry casks for two years, which contribute notes of dried fruits, particularly cherries and grapes, to the whisky. Deanston 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from the oldest casks maturing at Deanston Distillery. It has a copper gold color, with an aroma of cedar, oak and honey. The initial notes of leather and hints of honey and vanilla fade into notes of cherries, strawberries and grapes, before leading to a dry, honeyed finish. About Deanston

In 1785, Sir Richard Arkwright designed and helped construct a cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith. The mill, which was situated just outside Edinburgh, operated for nearly two centuries and employed as many as 1,500 works in the 19th century. In 1965, however, as demand for Scottish cotton fell, the mill was forced to close its doors. The same year, James Finlay, Brodie Hepburn and A.B. Grant (collectively known as the Deanston Distillers) purchased the Deanston Mill and began converting it into a distillery. The mill was ideally suited to produce and age whisky — it was already situated along one of the purest water sources in all of Scotland and the mill's storage cellars, originally designed to store cotton, were perfect for housing maturing casks of whisky. The refurbishment took nearly a year and cost over £300,000, but on October 17, 1966, the Deanston Distillers opened the doors to Deanston Distillery for the first time.

About Scotch

Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)   Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.   Check out our impressive selection of scotch whiskies, find your new favorite in the Top 10 scotch whiskies, or explore our treasury of rare & hard to find scotch whiskies.

About Dictador 2 Masters Glenfarclas 1972 Colombian Rum

For this exquisite marriage of the best rum and whiskey, Dictador’s master blender Hernan Parra partnered with Glenfarclas’ Callum Fraser in Scotland. The story of Dictador 2 Masters Glenfarclas 1972 Colombian Rum began in 1972 when the spectacular rum was distilled. Then, it was transferred to Speyside, Scotland, where it was finished in port casks – it spent seven months in a single third-fill sherry cask that previously held 2002 vintage of Glenfarclas Scotch. Finally bottled at 90 proof, only 378 bottles of this extremely rare and one-of-a-kind marriage were produced.

About Dictador

In 1751, Severo Arango y Ferro arrived in Cartagena, a port city in northern Colombia. Ferro had been sent to Colombia from Spain, and was asked to establish and oversee commercial trading activities between Spain and its American colonies. Ferro proved himself to be an able and ruthless statesman and under his leadership, the city of Cartagena became a hub of economic activity and the most important port for the Spanish fleet in the Americas. Ferro's strength and power also earned him the nickname "Dictador."

Dictador was partial to a variety of rums that were being distilled in the Caribbean at the time, many of which passed through Cartagena on their way to Spain. In 1913, over 150 years after Ferro initially arrived in Colombia, one of his descendants established Destileria Colombiana. Today, the dis tillery honors the legacy of its founding ancestors with Dictador Rum.

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.

About Dingle

Two hundred years ago, there were over a hundred officially recognized distilleries in Ireland. Today there are less than ten. Founded as Ireland’s first artisan distillery, Dingle takes its name from the town in which it is located, where tourists flock to visit Europe’s westernmost human settlement. As of 2012, an old sawmill was converted into a distillery, where Dingle marries Ireland’s tradition of independent distilling with innovative processes only feasible for small batch producers.

Dingle’s humid climate with cool gulf stream breezes is considered ideal for spirit distillation. When restaurateur Oliver Hughes decided to open Irleand’s first artisan distillery, he wanted to capture the terroir of Kerry County. In order to do so, Hughes bought traditional pot still designed by Master Distiller John McDougall. He affectionately named the hand beaten copper pot still Oisin, and immediately began producing Ireland’s first small batch vodka, gin and whiskey.

About Irish Whiskey

Contrary to popular belief that Scots invented whisk(e)y, Irish whiskey was mentioned almost a century before its Scottish brother.

Its origin comes from the perfume distilling monks who decided to tweak the recipe a bit, creating Irish whiskey.

Irish whiskey doesn’t have a lot of rules and regulations to be considered “pure” and can be made with various grains and processes, as long as it is aged for at least three years in wooden casks and has a max ABV of 94.8%.
